WE ARE RAFIKIS: A GIRL LOVE INITIATIVE



I was talking to my friend the other day, discussing about life basically and the topic involving you tuber superwoman aka Lilly Singh came up and she goes and tells me that she absolutely loves her because lilly has the ability to change your thinking concerning many things. (PS : I introduced her to iisuperwomanii videos). Lilly does crazy comedic stuff often relating to things that happen in your daily life like when parents “want to talk” but on the other side she has some pretty powerful initiatives that are close to her heart. One of them is the GIRL LOVE initiative.



Basically girl love is all about supporting girls all over and promoting girl to girl love. I used to read about it on twitter when she posts tweets about girl love campaign not paying much attention to it until the initiative brought her to my home country, Kenya. 


 
I just saw her vlog where she shares her experience in Kenya and boy am I moved!!!!!!! So I live in Kenya, I see the struggles that many girls undergo and I just sit back because I think that I cannot do anything about it. I don't know how i, one person, can make a difference. A lot of girls here don’t go to school due to many factors e.g being married off young, lack of fees, the notion that girls should only take care of the house, lack of sanitary towels and many others. Lilly and the ME TO WE initiative under the WE movement try to conquer this situation through their “Rafikis” i.e the hand made bracelets made by the Kenyan women which by the way create employment for 1400 women who in turn educate their girls. Proceeds from the sales of the Rafiki bracelets help educate a girl here in Kenya. It excites me that I can help a girl be fortunate enough like I was and get her primary and secondary education.














It’s the little things in life that matter, and that bring happiness to our lives. Go get or order your bracelet. I don’t know how I will get mine but hey, am in Kenya, I can just board a matatu and go to the factory itself.

WHAT KIND OF A SLEEPER ARE YOU?

Get ready to relate C'mon people, who doesn't love a good night sleep, short afternoon nap, a doze adventure ( you are just sitting there in class and your head starts wiggling like jason derulo in slomo with your eyes half closed ofcourse). here are the type of sleepers 1. Snore-ZILLA - i know i know snoring is totally normal and its hard to control it at times, but here is the thing there are people who snore and those ones who SNORE. Am talking about people you don't want to be in the same geographical zone with. Yes, its that serious. 2. THE GYMNIST - these are the people who don't realize that there is an invisible line that divides the bed that is created by the two pillows. 3 STEPS TO GETTING WHAT YOU WANT

I was watching one of my favorite t.v shows and something caught my attention. The host was talking about how few people get what they want in life while the majority are just stuck there. The difference is how they approach this "pursuit" of getting what they want. He talked about steps one should follow that can increase the chances of getting what you what. 1. Establish what you want clearly and get to know more about it. Ask yourself if its worth your time and hard work. 2. Have the mindset that in your pursuit you can either win or lose. That's the sad part about life, you get some you lose some. In this step its all about the attitude.       3. Know that in order to get something you have to give out something. Give out your time, your space, your sweat, your focus, all that, and you are well on your way to getting what you want. much love.
